Valentine’s Day, this year will happen on Wednesday so many will surely spend the day at work among the usual thousand commitments … but why not sweeten the day with a dessert in a jar that is easy to carry and very tasty to eat during the day. What you need are the jam jars with that nice tight closure that keep the food very fresh and are super safe, office bag proof.
Ingredients for sponge cake
160 g flour
130 grams of sugar
20 grams of bitter cocoa
25 ml seed oil
two whole eggs
1/2 sachet of vanilla yeast
160 ml milk
butter (to butter the baking tray)
Whip the eggs with sugar using an electric mixer. You will no longer have to feel the lumps of sugar and get a nice smooth and clear mixture. Add the oil and continue stirring by setting the minimum beater speed. Now you can add flour, cocoa, sifted vanilla yeast and keep stirring. Finally add the milk and continue to mix all the ingredients until the mixture becomes smooth. Butter a baking tray abundantly. We used the cheese-cake one, with side closure which is always very convenient. Bake for 30 minutes at 170° but don’t forget to do the famous stick test to check that the interior is well cooked.
Ingredients for the cream
400 ml milk
200ml fresh cream
90 g sugar
two teaspoons of honey
80 g maizena
Per il nostro dolce in barattolo andremo ad utilizzare una delicata e gustosa crema al latte. Per prima cosa sift the maizena and add it with the sugar and vanillin mixing the ingredients well. Heat the milk without bringing it to a boil. When it is hot, pour it into the powders and turn with a whisk. Bring the mixture to the heat and continue to mix with the whisk. This will tend to compact and become a very delicate cream. Transfer it to a container and let it cool, covered with transparent film. Meanwhile, whip the fresh cream with the electric mixer. The cream will have to be whipped in firm snow. Then add the cream to the cream with the milk that we have made and mix so that there are no lumps and the cream is smooth and well blended. Now let’s put the cake in a jar. With a knife cut a first disc of Sponge cake the diameter of the jar. Put it in the jar and then add a nice thick layer of cream. Finally add a second disk of sponge cake. The dessert in the jar is ready to be delivered. In fact, this could also be a delicious entannment for your Valentine’s Dinner, perhaps garnished with tufts of cream. You can make many sweets in these ways such as a tiramisu or a very good Red Velvet cake. The cream can also be your favorite or maybe you could enrich this with a shower of chocolate drops. In short, you can have a lot of fun with your dessert in a jar but… don’t forget the teaspoon!
