If you want to enjoy a nice Sunday before returning to the usual urban tran tran, then we recommend the Fontana Madonna farmhouse in Frigento, in the province of Avellino, about 90 km from Naples.
We discovered the Fontana Madonna farmhouse looking on the www.agriturismo.it by pure chance, on a Sunday morning, one of those Sundays in which there is a really nice day surrounded by greenery to eat something tasty and genuine. We set out on the A16/E842, leaving grottaminarda after about 7 km we begin the climb towards this promontory; we cross immense green fields, where brave elders do not let themselves be intimidated by the scorching sun of a very hot Sunday, and are there to take care of their lands, which will soon be ready for harvest. We climb for about 5 km, after being ecstatic by the wonderful landscapes that Irpinia offers, and here we are at the farm.
The venue is full of cheerful and festive people; there are grandparents sitting at the table very happy with the day who are spending with their children and beloved grandchildren. In the hall we celebrate 2 anniversaries, a beating and a communion.
To welcome us is the owner, Antonello,a very nice person to and looking very hipster, who kindly guides us to our booked table, (we strongly advise you to book, otherwise you will have to wait for a place to be released).
Once settled in, Antonello speaks proudly of his company; yes because theirs is a company that produces most of the things they cook at KM0, and in a small part they rely on local producers. Antonello shows us the menu of the day, talking to us about a food concept taken care of in detail by the Chef, Imma, his wife. So decided we rely on his advice.
It’s off! Let’s start by taking a nice bottle of red wine, “Lignorante”, produced by the viticulture of the house, to toast at the beginning of a Sunday full of fun and good food then begins a rich appetizer for 2 people, consisting of: egg on mashed potatoes, broccoli pie, potato croquette on bee cream, mixture of local cured meats, seaweed wedges, polenta triangle on melted cheese bed, cabbage rolls and fresh ricotta meatloaf.
While waiting for the first we are ecstatic by the arrival at the table in front of us, of a delicious and certainly tasty meat steak on lava stone, cooked at the moment and enjoyed hot hot by guests.
After exchanging a pleasant chat with Antonello about all the events organized by the local municipality and the promotions of the Excellence of the territory, we are served the First Courses: for Emanuela an exquisite dish ofpumpkin cavatelli and mushrooms, while instead, for me a delicious dish of cavatelli with sausage and aglianico….
The pasta is homemade and is a real celebration of colors and scents. The dishes are plentiful of the‘Agriturismo Fontana Madonna , that’s why we can’t order the exquisite meat we’ve seen too, but we don’t give up a dessert. We choose a dessert at the coffee spoon served in a cute jar.
At the end of the day we pay our bill: 37€ per person full lunch, a figure quite appropriate to the delicacy of the foods proposed by this farm that we could call Gourmet.
We recommend the Fontana Madonna farmhouse if you want to taste something unique that you will not find in any farmhouse, without giving up taste and authenticity. We still recommend it if you have children because there is so much green space that they can spend the whole day in freedom and carefree, if you have an anniversary to want to celebrate with your family in a welcoming place.
