The pastry shop of Sal de Riso in Maiori is definitely one of our mandatory stops when we are on the coast. We really like to go there even in winter, when Maiori, empty tourists, shows a different face, less glamorous than the summer one but equally delicate and characteristic.
The pastry shop of the famous pastry chef of the year 2010-2011is located on the seafront of Maiori, a few steps from a municipal parking lot for a fee.
We love to sit in the gazebo full of white tables and chairs. It is almost impossible to find the pastry shop empty but a place is always found. The interior, on the other hand, is in perfect Amalfi style, with blue majolica on the floor and large lemons resting here and there as colorful decorations.
At the entrance there are delicious jars of various creams as well as sweets and canned biscuits to take home, much appreciated especially by tourists. The undisputed protagonist of the pastry shop is the very long cake counter: a showcase of slices of color prepared in such a way as to create a gradual shade of nuances: from the delicate yellow of the lemon mousse to the intense brown of the appetizing black forest.
Another explosion of color is the corner of artisanal ice creams, tender, delicate and elegant are instead chocolates.
The first cakes we tasted, are the most famous of Sal de Riso: ricotta and pere and lemon delight.
The cheesecakes are also very good but lately our loves are: the lemon mousse of the Coast and the babamisù.
A slice of cake at the coffee table costs about 7 euros, in a few minutes it is served with decorations that immediately turn it into a work of art without altering its flavor.
Sal de Riso’s pastry shop now for us it is a fixed stage, we do not know why exactly, maybe they will be the sweets so good, for the environment so relaxed or for the colors or for all these things together that well summarize the elegance, carefreeness and charm of this coast kissed by the sun, nature and the sea, one of the most beautiful coasts in the world.
