If there’s one thing we’il always remember about Menorca, it’s his headlights. The lighthouse is something that has always fascinated me, I also dream of sleeping there for one night; I believe that the lighthouses keep wonderful tales: stories of sailors, mermaids, shipwrecks and happy returns home. I think the lighthouse is a sign of hope and above all that wherever you are there will always be someone, somewhere there, waiting for you
In Menorca there are 7 lighthouses and they are practically all working, some of them greet the sunrise someone looks at the sunset. We want to tell you something about what we consider to be the most scenic and spectacular in Menorca…
Favàritx Lighthouse: it is certainly one of the most famous lighthouses in Menorca, not only for the breathtaking location in which it is located, but also for the arid and spooky landscape that runs along to reach it. This lighthouse is located in the northwest area of the island and requires a suggestive walk as it is practically impossible to get there by car or motorcycle, access is allowed only to taxies, buses or small minibuses.
Cap de Cavalleria Lighthouse: among the various lighthouses, this is our favorite. From here you can enjoy a crazy view of the sea and cliffs and it is a wonderful place from which to enjoy the sky blushing at sunset. When the sun is now hidden behind the sea, the lighthouse lights up and its beam of light begins to illuminate the horizon.
Cap d’artrutx Lighthouse: Not far from Cala’n Bosch, this was also one of our favorite beacons. We found this lighthouse almost by accident: we saw its beam of light from afar, we followed it and we found ourselves in front of this black and white striped giant looking at us from above. Inside this lighthouse there is a small restaurant that will probably allow you to have one of the most romantic dinners of your life.
Faro de la isla del Aire:it is the highest lighthouse in Menorca, about 38 meters high and is one of the so-called isolated lighthouses and is located on a small coastal islet. The lighthouse watches the sun rise and you see it from the plane that takes you to Menorca, surrounded by a thousand shades of blue.
The high lighthouses of the island are: Mahon, Member of the Commission. Sa Farola in Ciutadella, Punta Nati that we hope to see on our next trip to Menorca.
