You have known for a long time how much we love sunsets and we know that we are not the only ones: it is incredible how the human being can enchant himself in the face of the most spontaneous spectacle that our Earth offers us. The almost sacred silence that is created while the sky is tinged with so many different colors almost seems the result of a spell. I can never stop being surprised when, at the end of this show, the most spontaneous applause anyone can ever hear starts.
Three days in Menorca and two unforgettable sunsets in very different places but in any case sensational: Cova d’en Xoroi and the lighthouse of Cap Cavalleria.
Our first sunset in Menorca was in one of the coolest places on the island,Cova d’en Xoroi in Cala ‘n Porter. This bar/disco is completely carved into the rock and overlooking the sea. Admission is 20 euros per person with whom you are entitled to a beer or a glass of wine. Long flights of steps overlooking the sea from which it is impossible not to take a photo and suddenly what should be a simple aperitif turns into a kind of visit inside Cova d’en Xoroi.
The living rock “sweats” moisture, soft and delicate lights illuminate the interior.
The bar directly overlooking the sea is the busiest, everyone wants to earn a coffee table in the front row but no one is willing to give up their place of honor on Menorca. We’re lucky and we find a coffee table. We enjoy a great mojito prepared by the bartender, a bubbly girl from Ancora who has moved to the island and we taste the typical Spanish olives stuffed with anchovy paste. In the sky there are a few clouds that sail the sun slightly: it is a delicate sunset, accompanied by a very light lounge music, the click of some camera and the laugh of some tourist who has drunk a few too many beer. A discreet but elegant sunset as Brood d’en Xoroi.
Our second sunset in Menorca was at the Cap Cavalleria Lighthouse, one of the most beautiful lighthouses seen on the island. On the Northwest coast you can enjoy wonderful sunsets and this is one of the highest points from which to see the sun show. Grab an iced beer at the lighthouse bar and place your cell phone on the white wall. Leave the camera in time-lapse mode and then look with your own eyes at one of the most beautiful sunsets you can enjoy on the island, between an expanse of sea, the cliff, the coastal islets and behind you… the lighthouse that begins to illuminate the horizon and the rocky road that led you up there.
