Every time we go to Ibiza, we always discover something new. This time we set our minds to discover the Stonehenge di Ibiza .
A Stonehenge in Ibiza? Yes, you read well! This is what is called the Time&Space work by the Australian artist Andrew Rodgers, commissioned by the founder of Cirque du Soleil.
Time and space, represents the movement of the planets around the sun and the columns are aligned with the sunset of the winter solstice.
This work is located in Cala Llentia, about seven minutes from Cala tarida(amazing we had already stayed in the area and were not aware of it).
After passing through an orderly and elegant residential complex, the road becomes more uneven and the navigator seems to take you into the middle of nowhere.
Park your means of transport and continue for a minute on foot. You will find yourself in a wild landscape, a cliff of Mediterranean scrub overlooking the sea revealing the majestic Es vedrà on the horizon.
There, silent and imposing you will see, the famous Stonehenge of Ibiza: a circle of 13 columns with a central column at the end of which is fixed a 23 carat goldsheet. The space between one column and the other guides the gaze towards new perspectives from which to observe the sea.
This is a place of energies and vibrations, a place of unusual and religious silence, even if this place has nothing religious; in fact the monument is completely abusive. The work arose from one moment to the other on the island, without permits or licenses but inexplicably still there, loved by those who seek to find a mystical Ibiza.
People here talk quietly and turn around to look at the huge monument.
At sunset, the gold on the central column creates magical sparkles while the basalt seems to dress gradually in different colors.
Circles and towers of stones, phallic symbols and peace surround the Stonehenge of Ibiza: you are almost careful where you put your feet as not to ruin that scenery.
Go there at sunset, when you need an authentic moment, when you want to rediscover the beauty and sacredness of the golden hour that only Ibiza can give.
We have added it to our list of Places from which to admire the sunset in Ibiza, a place poised between artifact spirituality and authentic devotion.
