With the first rays of sunshine and the days that are already longer think about the holidays! We would like to know so much where you will go and we are sure that the majority will be thinking about Greek islands or Spanish islands. Greece,Spain, always the two favorite European destinations for the summer holidays and we too have been fascinated by the islands of both nations.
On reflection, however, we have noticed that there are some nice differences between the holidays spent on Spanish islands and those on Greek islands. Here we list some of the differences we have encountered, so… kick-off whistle, Greece-Spain begins now
Size
The Greek islands tend to be smaller, except for islands such as Crete and Naxos. If we take as an example the island of Santorini,in a few days you can see not only the three most famous beaches of the island and the main cities but also less touristy bays and small fishing villages. The Spanish islands, with the exception of some, are larger but above all their shape is different… these are mostly sandy beaches, there are no particularly inaccessible bays because they are protected by cliffs as is often the case in Greece.
Transportation
On the Greek islands it is possible to spend an entire holiday on a scooter. On many Spanish islands you’ll have to prefer the car to the scooter… we were forced to rent a car in Ibiza in order to be able to marry you every day from one point to another of the island and the same in Menorca.
Streets
The Greek islands are characterized by older roads, with asphalt not particularly well cared for. There are main roads and lots of dirt and wild back roads. In addition, from the road you can always admire a beautiful panorama as it is mainly coastal roads. In Spain there are large inland roads that allow you to move easily from coast to coast at the expense of the landscape.
Costs
They are not particularly expensive destinations when it comes to food. There are small differences: coffee generally costs more in Greece, a seafood dinner is much cheaper than in Spain. In both destinations eaten of both meat and fish and the dishes are always very substantial.
Gasoline in Greece because of the crisis has a rather high cost. Gasoline in Spain has slightly lower costs than Italy. But it is the water that costs much but much more than greece.
Security
In Spain the police are much more present on the roads and also quite strict. There are plenty of speed cameras on the roads that try to keep speed under control as well. In Greece we have noticed less police, in some places completely absent, such as speed cameras, which is dangerous if we think that many roads do not even have guard rails.
Do you notice any other differences? Anyway, which destination will you choose between islands in Spain and greece?
