Let’s face it, when it comes to eating in Lecce (but in general throughout Puglia) there is an embarrassment of choice. Puglia’s cuisine is rich, yummy and traditional restaurants are never too expensive. We in the old town of Lecce found a really nice and very cheap one, the restaurant Boccon Divino, by Mr. Gianfranco.
Why did we stop right here? To begin with, the restaurant is delicious: an Italian restaurant with tables and chairs directly on the street, colorful bottles and lights. Looking at the menu and we noticed the large amount of Salentini dishes at very affordable prices as well as the option to choose a tourist menu at 15 euros.
The tourist menu proposed by Boccon Divino includes a first and a second choice among a series of typical dishes on offer, a cheap way to taste the rich tasty cuisine of Salentina. In fact, we taste the Sogne ‘ncannulate with tomato with spicy cacioricotta and a pasta and beans with mussels that is served in a very tasty saucepan.
The portions are nice abundant but above all cooked artfully, really to lick the mustache. Very good the sod, a very long paste and slightly turned on itself, suitable to retain the sauce. The cacioricotta is also yummy, not very spicy for us who are used to much stronger flavors, but it has a really strong taste and smell.
Mandatory per second are the bits of horse meat, prepared with the typical recipe salentina and accompanied by a dish of green salad. At the end of the meal also treat yourself to a nice Lecce coffee, a cold coffee and diluted with almond milk, very tasty!
The staff of the Divine Boccon kind and patient, does not lose its composure despite the place being really busy and the evening very hot. The guys in the service never forget any requests and are very fast.
Needless to say, Mr Gianfranco and his wife are bewitched by us, with whom we have the pleasure of chatting at the end of the evening with a good bitter Salento, kindly offered us.
The couple is tender and close-knit, they are two people who have traveled a lot and have many but many things to tell, plus they give us a sea of advice on what to do, what to see and where to go to enjoy the weekend in the best way.
