Watch the Post presentation of our coast tu coast
A tour from the Ionian to the Tyrrhenian side, by car, with lots of suitcases and to discover fantastic places scattered throughout the tip of our local boot.
So let’s share the entire itinerary with you .. if you are brave we invite you to replicate it, otherwise, take a cue to discover fantastic places in the Calabria region.
Day 1 of the coast to coast: St. Nicholas Arcella and Dino Island
First stop, departure at dawn, arrival at the Arco Magno of San Nicola Arcellato enjoy it in solitude, in all its beauty.
Second stop onthe island of Dino, Praia, to admire the small island that can also be reached by swimming and enjoy the splendid crystal clear waters that characterize the beach in front (even if very crowded)
Day 2: Cirò Marina
Arrival in Cirò Marina, accommodation at the Punta Alice village. Relaxation and aperitif in the structure to recharge us
Day 3: Le Castella
We move to the island of Capo Rizzuto, near the Castella for a day at the beach. The beach is free, but it is possible to rent deck chairs and umbrellas at the bar. Music and entertainment for the whole day on this quite crowded beach. Afternoon with an aperitif with a view of the fortress at the Il Pescatore bar, view and some shots with the drone inside the fortress.
Day 4: wine tasting
Wine tasting in Ciró Marina, at the Senatore wines company: a journey to discover one of the best known, beautiful and intense flavors of Calabria.
Day 5: Cirò
Today a little more rest: there is fun in Cirò Marina between snorkeling, pedal boats and an aperitif in the pool. Tonight we prepare the luggage, tomorrow the real coast to coaststarts.
Day 6: Stilo, Roccella Ionica, Calanchi di Palizzi
The real Coast to coast begins with an alarm clock at 4 am: we move to Stilo to admire the millenary Cattolica.
The heat begins to be felt, we leave Stilo and its landscapes to reach Roccella jonica, with a very long, white beach and a high seabed as we like it, perfect for long swims.
Packed lunch, a quick coffee and we roll south towards Palizzi.
Our mission is to admire the Calanchi up close, splendid limestone formations that dominate the landscape as if they were snow-covered mountains.
We leave Palizzi and set off to reach Reggio Calabria. Tonight we stay at the Continental hotel, in a suite with a view of Sicily.
We are tired but we do not deny a walk and dinner on the Falconara seafront.
Day 7: Reggio Calabria and Chianalea di Scilla
After discovering the beauty of Reggio Calabria, we leave to discover Chianalea di Scilla, a fishing village, also known as the little Venice of the South.
We get lost in the village, its streets and its views. This city seems almost painted: every boat, every vase of flowers, every street lamp seems part of a perfect scenography. Today we treat ourselves to a special lunch, we are atIl Pirata restaurant with scialatielle and cold white wine.
Day 8: Briatico, Tropea, Pizzo
Our accommodation is inBriatico, in a delightful camping hotel with a private beach.
We can not stay here to laze however, today we go to Tropea.
Despite the rough sea and an untruthful sky, we spend the morning on the beach at Le Roccette.
The sea of Tropea has wonderful colors, despite the very high waves and the wind. Many people flock to the beach and no one is discouraged by the rough sea, the breakers become the attraction of the day.
Lunch with Tropeana salad and then walk to the center of Tropea where every corner is to be photographed.
We would like to have dinner here, but tonight we are in Pizzo to taste truffles, meet friends and enjoy the landscape from the balcony of Pizzo
Day 9: Capo Vaticano, Parghelia, Zambrone
Perhaps the most tiring day of our coast to coast in Calabria: 3 beaches in one day.
The first stop today is Capo Vaticano. The drone flies free in search of the most beautiful shots of this piece of coast where the water has a color never seen before.
We then move to Le Grotticellebeach for a fun snorkeling in these transparent waters and a quick lunch on the beach. Second stop, Michelino beach where we spend the whole early afternoon. A white beach that makes you exclaim: “stop everyone! But are they still in Calabria? “
A hard way climbing all those stairs to get back to the car but there is no time, we have to reach a beach recommended by all Calabrians, the Paradise of the sub.
Here too it is not very easy to reach the beach but it is worth it: the cliff hides a small and paradisiacal white sand beach caressed by the Caribbean colored sea.
