If you are in Naples and want to discover a wonderful and at the same time mysterious place, you can not miss LaGaiola at all in the world. It is an islet of the beautiful city of Partenope, which is admired in all its splendor in the crystal clear waters of Posillipo.
I honestly cannot explain to you the origin of this particular name, which I believe derives from some ancient dialectal word.
In Naples it is used to say:” abbasc’ a Gaiola“, that is, down to Gaiola because actually to see the islet there is a stretch to walk rather long and downhill. At some point you find yourself in an inhabited alley, where the voices of the owners of the house and some music fill the air gently, it almost seems to be in one of those films about Naples of the time.
Then after a few more ladders, finally, in a small glimpse you can glimpse the sea and a few fishing boats moored.
Stopping to admire La Gaiola, to which you can approach perhaps only thanks to a canoe, means enchant yourself to look at how the sun’s rays cross this natural arc and marvel at this water that you did not believe could be so green and transparent.
And then the Gaiola is also one of the favorite places for Neapolitans for the tan and a few risky dips in the crystal clear sea, from even rather impervious rocks.
In addition to being a panoramic place perfect for some exclusive shots it is also the ideal place for sportsmen who can rent canoes or Kayaks and for the more adventurous who will find an important information point for exclusive sea excursions.
