When we think of Campania, Naples, the gulf, Vesuvius and then the Amalfi Coast comes to mind. But if we wanted to see the snow in Campania in winter where could we go?
We found a truly breathtaking place to see the snow in Campania, it is located in the province of Caserta, in the Matese regional park and it is the Matese Lake.
How to get to Lake Matese
Getting to Lake Matese is quite simple, just follow the signs for San Gregorio Matese.
The streets are always clean, well maintained and snow free.
What to do at the Matese Lake
In addition to the classic snowshoe hike, or a simple walk and an inevitable war with snowballs, the lake offers many paths, also marked by the Italian Alpine Club and then you can stop in the area to eat in one of the countless restaurants near the lake.
Some tips and other info
In addition to the classic advice to choose clothing suitable for temperatures, we would also like to advise you:
- Chains on Board (remember that there is the obligation of Chains on Board from January to April);
- Leave early in the morning so as not to walk the mountain roads in the dark;
- In the village of San Gregorio Matese, there is a beautiful View from which we recommend you to enjoy the sunset and take some photos.
