How to get around in Milos
The best way to get around Milos is with a scooter or a quod.
We rented the scooter125cc at the port (Riva Travel) and paid € 25 per day.
Even a quod is recommended because Milos hides wild beaches and stretches of dirt road that we advise you to travel with caution.
the cost of petrol in Milos is around € 1.90 / € 2.00 per liter.
Where to stay
We recommend that you stay in the best-known towns on the island.
In particular we recommend:
- Adamas: the port area that allows you to easily reach all the most beautiful areas of the island.
- Pollonia: town about 10 minutes from the port with supermarkets, bakery, restaurants and scooter rental
- Klima: historic center, known for its beautiful Venetian castle from which to watch the sunset, also well equipped for “tourists”.
We stayed in Mytakas, a quiet but somewhat isolated area. You should rent a scooter at the port or in Pollonia which is about 5 minutes by bus from Mytakas.
The cost of the bus is € 1.60.
The taxi from the port to Mytakas was € 15, bargaining a little.

Watch the sunset in Milos
The best places to enjoy the Milos sunset are undoubtedly:
Plaka Venetian Castle: the historic center is a pedestrian area so park and walk up (pesantuccia the climb).
This place will give you one of the most beautiful sunsets in Milos, a real magic in a suggestive place.
Obviously don’t expect to be alone or to take pictures in peace: the castle is always full of tourists who climb everywhere(like us, LOL) for an unforgettable golden hour photo.
To get to the castle, you will pass through the delightful old town of Klima which is all uphill.
Here do not miss a visit to the catacombs which can be accessed freely.
Mytakas Beach: A rocky beach from which you can enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in Milos.
Grab a beer and something tasty to munch on or maybe a gyros and sit on the rock in silence to witness the magic.
Sarakiniko: the famous white volcanic rocks shaped by water and wind as if they were dunes, turn pink and gold at sunset.
discoverTsigrado beach
One of the most adrenaline-pumping experiences you can have in Milos.
This small bay, almost never ventilated and protected by a red cliff, can be reached with a rather unusual path: first you will go down a ladder, continue for a couple of meters with the help of a rope and then again a ladder.
The path is not difficult but it could certainly scare you (the idea that you will also have to face it to go up again will scare you) but the ropes help you very much.
The important thing is to hold yourself well and put a lot of strength on your arms.
Go prepared using comfortable clothing, a backpack instead of perhaps a bulky bag and sneakers.
If you don’t have sneakers then it’s better to do it barefoot rather than with flip-flops.
Bring food and water with you because in this cove there is absolutely nothing to refresh yourself.
Also bring a hat for the hot hours and very high sun protection.
If you really don’t feel like doing the route then you can join a boat tour that will certainly be more comfortable.
If, on the other hand, you feel ready, we give you some advice: get there at dawn and enjoy this magical cove all to yourself before too many people arrive.
Get lost in the white of Sarakiniko and Mandrakia
Sarakiniko is one of the most particular and alas best known beaches in Milos.
Again, wake up early and try to enjoy these rock “dunes” just for you for a while.
Do not stop where the rest of the tourists stop but go free along this unique coast in the world.
You will find amazing places to enjoy the landscape and take unique photos.
Again, don’t forget your gym shoes that will help you climb steep or slippery climbs and descents.
Mandrakia is less known than Sakiniko but just as beautiful and even whiter.
We accidentally discovered a truly wonderful natural pool that was ours alone all the time.
Discover the white pebble beach of Voudia
A little known but very particular beach is that of Voudia. The landscape and the path may scare you a little: you will cross a road mostly traveled by heavy vehicles that transport materials from the quarry to the factory overlooking the sea.
The Voudia beach is truly special: an infinite expanse of white pebbles and a truly clear and calm sea that will allow you to do an unforgettable snorkeling.
We point out that not even this beach is equipped.
A day of relaxation in Firiplaka
Firiplaka is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Milos and to be honest … it really is!
An expanse of ivory sand and the most beautiful sea on the island, with water so transparent it looks like a swimming pool.
there is a large rock near the shore, a perfect photographic spot.
Firiplaka beach is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas and there are also some refreshment points where you can buy sandwiches, ice cream, drinks and if you want you can even smoke a hookah.
In addition, from Firiplaka you can rent a boat (without necessarily having a boat license), go on a group tour to Tsigrado or Kleftiko or, again, rent a canoe, snorkeling equipment and even action cameras!

Take photos at the fishing village of Firapotomos
Delightful village directly on the sea that smells of “old Greece” with fishermen’s houses, rowing boats and octopuses left to dry in the sun.
A perfect place for a seafood lunch and some Instagram-proof shots.
Spend a few hours atPapafragas Beach
A very small bay set between two large rocks, pebbles and calm and very shallow water.
Obviously the beach is not equipped at all but it is very close to Pollonia, where you can move for lunch or buy water and food.
Rent a boat for Kleftiko
It is a series of caves and lagoons in which the water is truly unique, completely transparent, the paradise of the Action cam.
You can rent a boat with or without a skipper or go on an organized boat tour that leaves from Adamos (the port) or Paliohori.
If you choose the organized tour, you will also have the opportunity to have lunch on board.
In case you decide to rent a boat, bring water and something to eat with you.
The average cost of an organized tour is about 75 euros per person, while the rental with skipper on a 5-meter boat costs about 150 € for half a day.
Other useful info:
The average cost of a dinner in one of the tavernas on the port, with two glasses of wine and a plate of pasta with seafood or prawns is around 30 euros for two people.
The restaurants we tried in Milos were:
TRAPATSELIS in Adamas– Approved
New Malion Restaurant, Adamas– Not Approved
Alkis, Pollonia– Approved
One of the best Gyros in Milos is in Adamas, port of Milos, at the Yankos restaurant bar. The cost of a complete chicken Gyros is € 2.70.
You can reach Milos from Santorini by fast ferry which costs between € 50 and € 60 but you should buy tickets in advance.
We rented the scooter at the port at Niko’s Car which collaborates with the Riva Travel agency.
Once the contract has been signed, you will collect the vehicle from a private parking lot a few meters from the agency.
As always, there is the rule fuel for fuel.
